Secrets of the Rich

If you’ve ever wondered “what are the secrets of the rich and wealthy?”, you are not alone. In fact, they’re not really “secrets” of the rich, but more a way of thinking and behaving. Take the book Rich Dad Poor Dad for example: The entire book is about what the rich teach their kids about money that the poor and middle class do not. The so-called secrets of the rich are really just lessons and principles passed down from generation to generation. However, just as the secrets of the rich are taught, so is financial struggle. Most of us inherit our parents’ attitude toward work and money. If you’re not where you want to be financially, is it because you are duplicating your parents’ relationship with money? It is possible to break the cycle and I am going to share two of the secrets of the rich. I come from a long line of single mothers living pay check to pay check but was the first in my family to break the pattern because I applied the secrets of the rich. When I was fifteen years old, my first real job was working at McDonald’s for $2.15 an hour. I remember it like it was yesterday. When it was slow in the restaurant I would find myself daydreaming about ways to get rich. It wasn’t because I was materialistic, or greedy. I simply wanted enough money to do what I wanted, when I wanted. I wanted to know the secrets of the rich. And I certainly did not want to have to work as hard as my mother for so little. But truly, what options are there for you if you didn’t get any of the so-called advantages in life and weren’t taught or told the secrets of the rich? I put myself through college and ultimately landed a job in advertising but I was a slave to my career. In fact, I woke up one day 16 years later and realized I absolutely loathed my job. I was showing up on Monday simply so they would pay me on Friday. I had zero interest in my work and felt no attachment to my company or clients. That’s when I seriously started to daydream about the secrets of the rich. More importantly, there was a voice in my head that kept telling me “invest in yourself”. Does this sound at all like you? If so, let me share two of the things I’ve learned. If, like I was, you are willing to dedicate yourself to learning how to get rich, I have good news for you. It can absolutely happen for you no matter where you are financially, right now. First and foremost, you have to stop trading time for money and start thinking in terms of residual income. Residual income is likely the single most important of the secrets of the rich. Residual income occurs when you do the work once but get paid over and over and over. If you learn and apply no other secrets of the rich than the concept of residual income, you will still likely make your dreams come true. It was John Paul Getty who said “I’d rather have 1% of 100 people’s efforts than 100% of my own.” I am a very big fan of Network Marketing as it is one of the easiest ways for the average person to start building a residual income business. You can start part time, without jeopardizing your day job and the start up is low, often only a couple hundred dollars or so. Network Marketing has helped average people become millionaires and it can do the same for you. It made my financial dreams come true and now I help others do the same. The second of the secrets of the rich that I’d like to share, and one of the most important secrets of the rich is mindset. Ask yourself, what do you really think about money? Do you respect it? Look after it? Do you expect a lot? Or a little? Do you believe that you can learn the secrets of the rich and attract the income and life of your dreams? If so, you are well on your way. If not, you can actually hone that skill. One of the earliest books ever written on the secrets of the rich is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. And one of best books written recently on this topic is T. Harv Ecker’s The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. There are thousands of books written about the secrets of the rich so if you seriously want to learn, become a reader.
